Immortals Movie Reviews

Once again a film that is beautiful visually and absolutely empty inside. I think that once the film looks so gorgeous visually the director forgets that the story an the characters have to matter as well. The film is really stupid but takes itself very seriously and that made my eyes roll more than once throughout the film. The actors are beautiful and fit and they are just there to spit out lines and be slaughtered, none of them really cared for the characters and the whole film seemed inorganic. It is such a cheesy film and I would not have a problem with that but the thing is that the film doesn’t acknowledge that it’s cheesy.
I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters because it would be a waste of your time and your money. The film was amazing visually but it does not make up for a fact that the film has no heart in it, the characters are just there to spit out stupid lines and get killed for no clear reason. I think that the director is very talented in visual arts but not in making movies and it is very obvious once you see this film. I do have to say that the filmmakers did some research on Greek mythology and I appreciate it but that is definitely not enough. Overall, I urge you to stay away from this film.
I do not recommend seeing this film in the theater because it is not worth the price of the movie ticket and the story does not make sense most of the time. Nobody could argue that the film does not look good, it looks amazing and I really appreciate the talent of the director to make anything look good, however the film itself is a complete mess. If you ignore everything else and just enjoy the visuals then you might have a good time, but is that worth your money? I guess it is one of those films that I can call mindless entertainment and guilty pleasure.
This is an action/adventure fantasy film about Theseus who is a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, the film is directed by Tarsem Singh and stars Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and John Hurt. This film was absolutely amazing visually and it was truly incredible to watch, however that was it, there was no connection between visuals and the story, I did not care about any of the characters and the whole film became kind of pointless. The film also had way too much violence for my taste and I felt icky after. Overall, I do not recommend seeing this film in the theaters.
Immortals is what happens when a visual artist like Tarsem tries to make 300. And Immortals is an incredible looking film, at times looking like a painting come to life. Oh, if only the story and script were at the same level.
This incredibly confusing story involves a mishmash of legends and myths, along with some newly created ones. There's an evil king who wants to open a box that will destroy all of humanity and the gods. There's a bunch of sword fights and damsels and blood and shields and some more sword fights. I'd try and get more specific, but honestly, I'm not really sure what it's about. It's that convoluted.
There's a few things going on here of interest. First, it's good to see Henry Cavill, the new Superman, as the lead hero. He can pull it off, which bodes well for the franchise. Second, Tarsem needs to find a better vehicle for his visual style. Third, enough with the 3D.
