Immortals is what happens when a visual artist like Tarsem tries to make 300. And Immortals is an incredible looking film, at times looking like a painting come to life. Oh, if only the story and script were at the same level.
This incredibly confusing story involves a mishmash of legends and myths, along with some newly created ones. There's an evil king who wants to open a box that will destroy all of humanity and the gods. There's a bunch of sword fights and damsels and blood and shields and some more sword fights. I'd try and get more specific, but honestly, I'm not really sure what it's about. It's that convoluted.
There's a few things going on here of interest. First, it's good to see Henry Cavill, the new Superman, as the lead hero. He can pull it off, which bodes well for the franchise. Second, Tarsem needs to find a better vehicle for his visual style. Third, enough with the 3D.
