Hope Springs Movie Reviews

I'll admit that I generally don't care for romantic comedies, but this movie really appealed to me because it's not really about romance. It's about what happens when the romance has gone out of a relationship. And thankfully the leads are not twenty or thirty something trying to figure out the opposite sex. They're an old married couple in their 60s who have lost the sexual spark that they once felt for each other. Since they're played by Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones, they know what they're doing and they have amazing chemistry even as a couple that's not supposed to have any chemistry. Meryl Streep is of course perfect in her performance - she's even really funny as a woman who does what she can to discover her innate sexuality (the scene where she reads a book about sex tips from gay men had me in splits). Steve Carrell is also great in his part because he really plays it straight. It's not as good as The Devil Wears Prada but it's still quite enjoyable.
I thought this film was pretty great and if you want to see a good romantic comedy this is the film to see. It is not a big budget movie but it is funny, smart and quite interesting and I had lots of fun watching it. The film is really sweet and I might say brave and it has an amazing cast that makes the film that much better. This movie is definitely for grown-ups and that is like a breath of fresh air after seeing an infinite amount of dumbed-down films that Hollywood produces. Overall, I had a great time watching this film and highly recommend seeing it in the theaters.
I really liked this film and highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. I thought the film was realistic, interesting and fun to watch and with the cast like that you really can not go wrong. The film explores the complex nature of love and sex and I was genuinely interested and surprised. THe two leads are absolutely wonderful and once more Meryl Streep proves that she is a force to be reckoned with and Tommy Lee Jones was amazing as well. It is a little movie but it is brave and smart and perfectly acted and I can not ask for more.
