This was easily one of the best movies of the year for me. I preparation for seeing this second installment, I revisited the first film. I found that I liked the first one better during the second viewing then when I first saw it in the theatre. It did help to remind myself of what was going on in the first picture.
This one really picked up the action and deepened the story for me. I have read the books and so I know the additions that have been put in place to make the book three films long. That being said, I was swept away by the visuals, the story, and the acting. I've seen this twice, in both 2D and the enhanced 3D version. I really was impressed with the 3D enhancements. It looked, at times, like I was watching a video rather than a film. I look forward to wrapping this up next year with the final installment.

Complete garbage this movie is a waste of money, just like the lord of the rings a whole lot of walking and talking. The props sucked the acting wasn't bad, but the movie was cheesy and borning…Wait till Redbox…..

I am a huge fan of The Lord of The Rings as well as The Hobbit and I was extremely excited to see this film. My expectations were really high and I am glad to say that the film did not disappoint, it was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend seeing it on the big screen. I will definitely see this film at least 3 times and I am not ashamed of that. I think that Peter Jackson once more did an amazing job recreating Tolkien’s world and I just love him for that. The themes of good versus evil and honor and treachery are appearant in the film and that is a very important thing for a true fan of these films and Tolkien’s books. The film is action-packed, the characters are well developed and overall the film is great.

I have read all of the Tolkien’s books and The Hobbit was the first book that I have read when I learned to read.. My father used to read it to me when I was little and this book has a very special place in my heart. I remember when I heard that Peter Jackson is making Lord of The Rings I was extremely excited and also confused, because I thought that he would make The Hobbit first, given that it is the first book that starts the story. Anyway, when Jackson finally started making the Hobbit I was overjoyed and nervous. I know that just like me, a lot of people have a very special relationship with The Hobbit book and Jackson was taking a huge risk making a film based on it. Well, his risk paid off, I liked the first film, but the second one was simply amazing. The film is full of great action, important and touching themes and great characters. I had a great time watching it and highly recommend seeing it on the big screen. The production design was breath-taking and visual effects blew me away. Overall, this film will definitely satisfy the fans all over the world.

I am the biggest fan of J.R. Tolkien and I love Peter Jackson for making films that brought Tolkien’s world to life. I was very excited to learn that Jackson is making The Hobbit and even though I was not too impressed with the first film, he definitely made it up with the Desolation of Smaug. The film looked amazing, the visuals were stunning, the actors were beautiful and characters well developed. It was full of great action and non-stop fun and I recommend seeing it in 3D, it was totally worth the extra cash. The film did not feel like the middle chapter films usually do, it felt like a chapter unto itself with a clear beginning, middle and end. Overall, I will see this film many times in the theater and buy it when it comes out in DVD.

I saw the film in 3D and I thought it was worth the extra cash, it definitely enhanced my experience. The film looks amazing visually, the characters are great and the production design was exquisite, I was very impressed. The film is packed with action and it was a lot of fun to watch it and immerse oneself into the wonderful world of J.R. Tolkien. I did not really like the first film of The Hobbit, so I was a bit nervous to see The Desolation of Smaug. Well, I am happy to say that I absolutely loved it and highly recommend seeing it on the big screen, the film was totally awesome. I will definitely see it one more time in IMAX 3D, I think it will look even more amazing. I think the film was very entertaining, it had great themes about good and evil and friendship, and it had one of the best production designs that I have ever seen. I really want to go to New Zealand because of this film, the landscape of this country is simply breath-taking and magical. Overall, I think that Jackson is a genius and I am so thankful that he made Tolkien’s world seem so real and full of magic, just like his books.
