    Attack of the killer trees and grass? Come on, if your a movie reviewer that's smart about spending 10 to 20 dollars on this gay movie, then just wait until it comes out on DVD, if it even will come out I meant. After I saw it, I asked for a refund, but there was no hope for that anymore, so I'm just giving a warning.... DON'T blow your money and time on this crap.

    I thought this movie was horrible. Maybe it was me, and there just a new style of movie that i just don't understand yet but honestly, i thought this movie was one of the dumbest movies i've ever seen. I thought the structure, the acting and the writing was just pjavascript: setStars(4);
    mm tratelain bad. I mean come on, "We've lost contact..." When i saw the trailer with that line, i thought i was watching a Cinlular commercial.

    First off I love this movie and no one could have made it better than M. Night Shyamalan he out did him self. Anyone who says differently needs to watch the movie a second time.

    You know what, this is what I have to say. M. Night Shyamalan is a very very talented actor, for those people who just want to go to the movies to be "entertained" and not think! Go see another movie. He does NOT MAKE MOVIES TO SCARE YOU HE MAKES MOVIES FOR YOU TO THINK! Go read a comic book to be entertained. Go rent FINAL DESTINATION or TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Because the industry is saturated with worthless scare you "not-so-scary" movies it really isn't funny. If you REALLY THINK ABOUT "The Village" How was he REALLY suppose to advertise it? If people really watched the movie, and took it for what the movie was and NOT THE ADVERTISEMENT, then people would have understood what message he was getting across. PLEASE AMERICANS, STOP BEING SO SHALLOW AND LET'S WATCH SOME GOOD MOVIES FOR A CHANGE.

    Ooooh my. I wanted it to be good; honestly I did. But this movie was a complete disaster, and my boyfriend and I both caught each other's horrified faces through the duration, and not because it was scary. The script, the acting, the incredibly fake special effects, were all pathetic. End of story.

    This movie has a kind of gravity that intensifies the dramatic aspects. That being the parallel between the fictional events portrayed in the film and the very real events happening in the world now. At the end of the movie when the threat has gone there is a scene where a reporter is dismissing a scientists assessment in a cavalier manner. The scientist thinks that it is a sign that portends future events if we don't change our destructive force on the planets resources.

    S o, when I hear people dismiss the movie -re: 'Where's the action sequences?' or 'This is lame, like plants could create an apocolypse.' - I hope at least some people can appreciate how leading edge this director has been by merging 'conscious awakening' with entertainment.
    Be careful not to dismiss. We're living in an age where we're being challenged to transcend polarities and transcend our tiresome habits of projecting expectations. You don't have to like it, but maybe consider the possibility that you don't get it.

    This movie was very very interesting. I really liked it. The Happening was way better then Lady in the Water. I thought The Happening brought Shyamalan back to his good movies like The sixth sence and signs. Though it probably wasn't as good as those 2, it still was great. Shyamalan has such unique movies. They're not unesessarily scary and they have a very interesting story. It was creepy in some parts but sertainly not a horror film which is also great. He just thinks differently then other writers. Keep making movies Shyamalan. I want to see what he can come up with next.

    I love that his films get people so worked up and outright mad. That, to me, is the sign of an effective filmmaker, not just someone who cranks out films in the Hollywood grinder to predictable reactions and results. If he makes you mad, it's likely only because you wanted something different that what you got with your ticket. That doesn't make him a BAD filmmaker, tho. And certainly not one who deserves such blatant threats by reviewers.

    I understand this movie is supposed to be more of an allegory about mankind's abuse of nature and nature's retaliation (which is long overdue, by the way). If you want slice 'em up, naked boobies bouncing, superficial dialogue and bloody carnage type stuff, go see the newest Saw installment (*yawn*) or Uwe (ew) Bol movie.

    But don't fault a director for making a film that didn't fulfill your preconceptions. He's always a surprise. That's what makes him top my list.
