If you like "relational" movies, I'd highly recommend Guilt Trip. The acting was good, and this story line has likely played out in the lives of many families. Many times, family members misunderstand each other and unless you take risks, and really try to understand your loved ones, you may never know the truth.

Barbara Streisand looks fantastic at 70! I never liked her politics, but love her as an actress and singer. She is great in this movie, a little annoying at times, but very believable and nice to look at.

Funny. I notice all of Streisand's most ardent detractors are the posters who don't know how to spell her first name. Yup, very telling indeed.

These are the same types whom, though he's arguably the best President to date since FDR, everyone dances around the topic of why they despise (and I mean DESPISE Barack Obama). He's black. That's all folks, he's black. They can write a diatribe long as a novella but when it comes right down to it they can't (and refuse) to acknowledge we have a BLACK MAN in the White House. Blah, blah, blah, blah, fellas but that's the long and short of it.

    1) No black upstart is going to be in the White House and the Oval
    Office.
    2) Streisand should shut up and sing and she has no business
thinking of herself as a political activist.

Oh, you "old fellas" will die off in a couple of generations. But I gotta tell ya it's getting REALLY old. Put sock in it.

Once upon a time Barbara Streisand was a gifted queen in my eyes. One of those rare talents who could both act and sing...and do them both amazingly. There are plenty of Hollywood celebs who boast having singing AND acting on their resumes', but more often than not, it turns out to be a good singer who is convinced they have the chops to act and doesn't or the other way around. Barbara could do both with equal aplomb. There is only one other modern day actress/singer I could mention in the same sentence with Streisand and that would be Cher. Both of these women have many chart toppers and blockbusters to their credit.
Unfortunately, Streisand made a mistake that is all too common in Hollywood these days, she wanted to add politician to her list of accomplishments. It got to the point that every time she opened her mouth in an interview or took to writing rambling missives in a blog, I would nearly become physically ill. Hey, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but Babs took it way over the top and fancied herself a genuine political activist. What she wound up doing was to poison her name and to show how totally uninformed she really was when it came to the affairs of the nation.
I had vowed I would never contribute a nickel to anything this fanatic produced. Yet, a part of me yearned to feel that magic she used to bring to the silver screen so seemingly effortlessly. So, when I saw the trailer for this film, I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a try. I'd almost like to be able to say that the reason this movie fell so flat for me was because of the way she has ruined her reputation for me with her constant liberal, left wing rantings, but I knew that wasn't it.This movie was doomed from the time she took the script. To say that it plodded along painfully would be giving it more credit than it deserved. Her character was frumpy and annoying. Seth Rogen's character was uninspiring and tedious to watch. The parts that should have been funny were lacking in any kind of comedic timing and often seemed forced. The couple of times the movie made me chuckle were on screen F aux Pa us that you might expect from amateurs. In the final analysis, I guess I should have left my memories of Barbara the way they were. Save your money on this one, it should be available on video very, very soon.

I have a weakness when it comes to Barbra Stresiand. My favorite movie ever (I mean EVER) is Funny Girl, followed by The Way We Were and Yentl. Hello, she's just the most geniusest thing EVER! So even though this movie is not that great, I still highly recommend seeing it because anytime Hollywood or the media can get Barbra Streisand to appear anywhere, it's a very special occasion. I only hope that fans are smart enough to help make this movie a hit because if it is, we can hopefully see more of our Barbra back on screen where she belongs. If the movie bombs, chances are we'll be back to where we started, which is getting to see her on screen like twice a decade. We can't have that! Her comic timing is great in this movie and it will be a pleasure for all Streisand fans, even if she doesn't sing. I think that Seth Rogen is pretty funny too and I hope he writes her a great comedy one day - and not just one where she has to be "the mom."

Barbra Streisand is a legend - AGREED. She also used to be something of a very big movie star. I can see after watching Guilt Trip why she chose to stay away from starring in mainstream flicks. They just have NO idea what to with her! Hullo, she's like one of the world's great artists and you stick her in a car with Seth Rogen so that he can roll his eyes at her for two hours? Really? And she's so beautiful and sexy and you make her look like a doubty bookish nerd mom? A librarian? Really? I didn't like the way they depicted her in this and I would totally back her up if she wanted nothing to do with this movie. It's not worthy of her name. I don't know who asked her to sign it, but she should quite playing this well meaning but meaningless Jewish mothers to aging comics like Seth Rogen and Ben Stiller. Seriously, Hollywood. Make an old fashioned musical with Streisand. You will make MILLIONS. It's what she was born to do. Both stars in this review are reserved for Streisand who is charming in a total bunker of a film.

Okay, so first things first: I like this movie a good deal because it was funny and also sweet. It also happens to star my comedy hero Seth Rogen in an unusual role for him. It's not a bro/buddy or stoner role- in this one he actually plays a pretty nerdy scientist who used to work at the EPA and now wants to help make the world a better place through the scientific technology he has invented. He takes his mother (played by Barbra Streisand) on a road trip - since she's Jewish and his mom, the movie is called Guilt Trip since no one can make you feel guilty like a Jewish mother (or so says my best friend whose mom is Jewish, lol). On the whole, this is a pretty good holiday movie that will make you appreciate your family and your parents for what they are not make you laugh out loud too much. It's subtle humor that's relatable. I think older people will like it more so take them with if you happen to see it in theaters. The place where I saw it was more than half older people.

Okay, so let's get one things straight: THE VOICE is STILL and ALWAYS WILL BE the one and only sent from Heaven Barbra Streisand. Her voice is so pure and so perfect that even when I don't hear it, I hear it. That being said, she is also a fine actress and it's always a treat for all of us when she's on screen again where we can see her and hear her. In "Guilt Trip" she's playing a more conventional and cutesy role than we're used to seeing her in (the doting Jewish mother who's about as hip as a drug store) but she has great chemistry with Seth Rogen who clearly idolizes the legend that is Barbra Streisand. Personally, I'd be a bit terrified if I ever met her - I'd probably be so spooked I'd start babbling like a moron - but when watching her in this movie she allows her inner warmth to emerge and you just want to have her as your own mom. She's lovely and deserves to be in as many movies as Hollywood can make. I give it three stars for the picture and an extra fourth star for Barbra, the Songstress Queen.

I did not enjoy watching this film and don't think it is worth seeing in the theaters. It was weird to see Seth Rogen acting alongside Barbara Streisend, somehow it did not feel right. Barbara steals every scene from Seth (which is not surprising at all) and i just did not buy their relationship, it was not believable. The film was very predictable, it was corny and I did not find it to be funny whatsoever, it also made couple of weird turns that made no sense. I guess you could be a good son and take your other to see this film and she might even enjoy it but you will not get much from it. Overall, I suggest seeing a different film and saving your money and time.

This is a comedy starring Seth Rogen and Barbara Streisend and it is a bout an inventor (Seth Rogen) who takes a road trip with his mother (Barbara Streisend) so he can sell his latest invention. I did not like this film and do not recommend seeing it in the theaters, I thought the film was not funny and pretty stupid. I think the film was targeted at an older audience and I just did not get the jokes. The film takes many wrong turns and by the end of the film I just felt disappointed and quite exhausted. I thought this film will be awesome and I was very disappointed because it ended up being flat and predictable. Overall, the film was corny and uninspired and I recommend spending your money on something better than this film.
