Counter programming wins again. What better way to spend the holiday season than with a dark disturbing film filled with sadism and murder. That's what you'll get with David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. If there was a director made to recreate the cold, moody world of the book, it was Fincher. He's done an excellent job recreating the book and the original films.
Fincher and screenwriter Steve Zaillian haven't really changed much of the story or reduced the book. It's still the story of a disgraced magazine publisher and a young, brilliant computer hacker working together to solve a decades old murder. But they've streamlined things and made them a lot more cinematic than the book and the original films were. It's still 2 hours and 20 minutes long, and probably lasts a little longer than it should, but it's hard not to get sucked into this world. Fincher is so damn good at creating mood and tension.
It helps that he gets an incredible performance out of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander. While the other actors in the film are excellent, it's Mara who controls the screen. The character is such a force that it would be hard to screw it up, but Mara proves that the small but memorable part she had in The Social Network wasn't a fluke. She's so intense that it almost overshadows everyone else around, though it shouldn't, since Daniel Craig does a great job as well. It bodes well for the two sequels, which I'm hoping will be just as good. -
I think the film was alright and people who did not read the novel might even love it, however I did read the book and the film did not live up to it. I do think that the film was made masterfully and the director did the best he could with the material but one has to understand that the book is very long and complicated and it is definitely not easy to make it into a movie. The film was way too long in my opinion, i can not sit in a theater for 3 hours that is almost a form of torture. I do have to say that the director did a really good job in creating a very creepy and uncomfortable atmosphere that the book also portrayed and the acting was impeccable. Overall, I would wait until this film comes out om DVD instead of watching it in the theaters.

This is a drama about Journalist Mikael Blomkvist who is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years a young computer hacker, the film is directed by David Fincher and stars Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara and Stellan SkarsgÄrd. I liked this film and I recommend seeing it in the theaters. I thought the film was very interesting, stylish and very well acted. I think that the director did a great job with this film and managed to keep a nice pace and the characters were well developed. I thought that the film was thrilling and unraveled in a nice fashion with a very satisfying climax. Overall, I think this film is great and I had a great time watching it.
