I didn't know what to expect, but I walked out entertained. Isn't that what it's all about? Yes some of the scenes were brutal, but I believe it was necessary to set up the story. Remember Death Wish about 40 years ago? Pretty brutal then.
I plan to read the trilogy after seeing this movie. Rooney Mara made her character believable. Good suspense and surprise. Pay attention! -
I thought this film was pretty cool and if you have not read the book I suggest seeing it in the theaters. I have read the book so the film did not thrill me because I knew what will happen in the end, however the film was made very well and I still enjoyed watching it. I think the director stayed pretty close to the book which I bet was not an easy thing to do because the book has a lot of tricky themes. I liked how this film looked visually and the director created a perfect atmosphere for this film. I was also very impressed with the acting in this film, i thought Rooney Mara was excellent as Lisbeth Salander and I am looking forward to seeing her more.

The movie trailer did not prepare me for the shockingly explicit scenes of sodomy and rape. In my opinion it was not necessary to the plot of the movie, the characters could have been developed without those scenes. Should have been rated X, not R. I had looked forward to seeing one of my favorite actors but was very sadly disappointed to see Christopher Plummer (I remember him fondly from The Sound of Music) in this disgusting movie.

Overall a good movie, though is not exactly like the book. It does give the movie goer the opportunity to get into heads and think a little, which I always enjoy, but it is a little slow in places. Some of the sex scenes are pretty graphic and I felt that some of them could have been left out or left more to the imagination without hurting the story-line and maybe even making it better. It is worth watching, but I wouldn't want to watch it again.

I thought this was a great movie. I was very entertained although that were some very sexually disturbing scenes they were necessary to described the characters. I did not read the books before watching the movie so I don't know how it compared but I found myself not wanting the movie to end even at two hours forty min. I will be recommending this movie to my friends and I hope you see it as well.

For now it is a three star. It is always confusing and disappointing when someone writes a bitter or ignorant review for a movie, or even a restaurant or business, when everyone else has good reviews or at least sounds objective. This can't always be caught at first until several reviews are written. If you are not objective spare us the silly review.
I'm of course referring to the 1-Star rating up top versus all the other 3-Star and multiple 4-Star ratings. In this rating the couple appeared to object to sexual scenes in the beginning of the movie. Well, it is rated “R”. Just how soon did they walk out – right after the opening scenes? Did you write your review based on 5 or 10 minutes? If they had shot the dog in the opening scene would you have left and wrote your silly review? If sex or violence offends you don’t go to “R” rated movies or just skip writing reviews. PLEASE! The professional reviews are good and the trailer looked very interesting. I'll go see this one for sure. -
From the bizarre 5-minute opening sequence of people being coated in oil, and transforming into dark angles while being set on fire, to the on-screen forced fellatio, to the scene of anal rape- which is very detailed- the producers FAR exceeded anything I ever want to see in a movie. My wife and I walked out and received a cash refund.
Don't accept comp tickets. Only a cash refund gets recorded as a walk-out and sends a message to the studio: We don't want the garbage you are puking out to us.
Please, walk out of crud movies, and teach others to walk out, and that they will also teach others. Walking out needs to become a major movement. Hollywood needs to receive our message.

Wow! This was REALLY good! Suspense, intrigue, mystery. This film had a little of everything (even a few laughs). I've not read the books, so the movie stands on its own. Great acting ("the girl" - Lisbeth - was perfectly cast) and beautifully filmed. I found myself hoping it wouldn't end, even at 2:40. It's not for the squeemish, however, as there are several scenes of brutality and skin. Recommended.

I liked this film and I recommend seeing it in the theaters. I have read the book and it was really good but I can imagine that making a film out of this kind of book would be a real challenge and director David Fincher did a great job with the adaptation. The film has a great cast and it elevates the film, I was especially impressed by Rooney Mara who blew me away with her performance. Mara had the same expression on her face throughout the film but she managed to do so much with it and I believed everything that her character did and what she felt. the film was intense and thrilling, I was on the edge of my seat for the most of the film. Overall, it is a great thriller and you will love the performances in this movie.
