G.I. Joe: Retaliation 3D Movie Reviews

Okay, so let me just say off the bat that Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson are totes hotties and they should be seen on the big screen to get the full effect of their physical glory. Bruce Willis . . . .? Well, maybe if you have a time machine available. (Sorry, Cybil Shepard). This is kind of a movie that you'll probably enjoy mostly if you are into those over the top video games that feature endless shooting sprees and disaster scenarios. This movie has all of that and more. I think the main objective here was to make a classic action guys movie and I guess I'll have to leave it up to others to judge how successful they were. Frankly, I got bored after the first 30 minutes because it just became an endless series of shootouts and blowups and I don't think there was any story to speak of except "army guys get bad guys" and then it ends there. It's fairly innocuous and violent at the same time.
Just got back from the matinee showing and I gotta say that I was amazed the theater was practically full on a Friday afternoon! This one has blockbuster written all over it. I think the extra price you'd pay for a 3D ticket is well worth the price if you are into great action sequences that you simply can't find in any other movie out there this weekend. The opening sequence with London being destroyed is really amazingly done and looks even more spectacular in 3D. Granted, it's a horrible thing that's being shown and I get that, but the whole movie is very awesome to look at in 3D. One thing I noticed seeing it in 3D is how little dialogue there is in the movie, something I didn't notice when I saw it in regular 2D. Lol, well, you don't go see these kinds of movies for the dialogue, you go for the action sequences and this one has them in spades. A total fanboy here for life.
