I found this to be an engaging and gratifying film. It's a multi-faceted historical event that was presented authentically in a short two hours and 23 minutes. It appeals on a different level than most of the Hollywoodized movies with their predictable, usual rhetoric. Character choices were well-thought out, and I can appreciate films that have a point to them. I can enjoy the various genres in the film making industry, but this one doesn't follow the regular pattern. It's not meant as a thrills and spills event. It has come out during a competitively difficult time in movie-going, but if you appreciate history and culture, it will take you off the movie-going beaten path.

Everyone should see this movie. Freedom isn't free! There is a price to be paid for our liberty. This movie set in the mid 1920's in Mexico starts out when the Mexican government enforces repressive laws that effective prevent the free expression of the Catholic people and clergy.

I love true stories based on historical fact. The characters are engaging and brave. I would also warn you the movie has scenes too violent for children under 13, but the main teen character is shown as incrediblly brave. The Mexican people rose up to fight for God and country and did themselves proud.

With two such opposing reviews, I can help but go see it. I also note that the poorest review still ranked a 3 out of 5 stars....Interesting what the brain is thinking that the tongue fails to reveal.

This is an incredible movie, one that you don't expect Hollywood to make in this day of partisanship. This is a movie with a heart and a soul. It is one that has incredibly strong acting and is based on real history.

I'd strongly encourage people to go to this movie and see it, and understand the fight against Judeo-Christian values has been going on for many, many years.

I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters because I do not think that it is worth the price of the movie ticket. Maybe it is just not my kind of movie but i found it to be quite boring and not interesting at all. I did not connect to any of the characters and I think that even though the acting was really strong, the characters are underdeveloped and the plot has many holes. I think there is nothing epic about this film and if the filmmakers wanted it to be epic they should have spent a bit more money on it. Overall, I did not have a good time watching this film.
