This movie was an excellant movie, completely defining the most probably response of the human population to an alient species that would not have been in a position to fend for itself. Certainly an overwhelming accurate portrayal of the corporate mindset, where anything goes to generate a profit.

If you didn't like the movie, it's probably because you don't have the intelligence to understand the movie, and it's plot nuances.

Terrible, terrible movie. We walked out and got our money back. Total waste of time and human intelligence. Poorly filmed, chaotic, ugly, extremely violent. I just don't understand the draw to these kinds of movies. Just bad, bad, bad.

It is the most horrible movie ever, DO NOT GO! we walked out of the theater. It is awful, they start by showing how they torture this weird looking aliens, who dont know how to communicate but then they do. The humans dont show any kind of mercy for this weird specie.

this has to be the worst movie I've seen this year! the plot was terrible, the gore was over the top and just plain nasty. the theatre was only maybe 20% full, and i counted 10 people leave during the movie. i really don't know what they were thinking when they made this movie, there was really no "why" any of it happened and the obvious questions never answered.
the theatre is great and the stadium seating is awesome, but it's not even worth watching when it hits HBO.......
if i could give it zero stars, i would..

Despite the buzz, and a clever premise and set-up, I found this movie to be nauseatingly bad. Not only because of the relentless and sticky gore, pus, vomit, garbage, and blood; not only for the tiresome hand-held camera work and inconsistent mockumentary style; not only for the glaringly idiotic and implausible plot turns that awkwardly force the action into the usual Hollywood conventional action/escape/blow-everything-up storyline; and not only for the insultingly condescending treatment of the black African slumlord/gang plot line that exists only to provide more excuses for mayhem and an utterly bogus "socially conscious" parallel between the imprisoned aliens and the "wretched of the earth": all these glaring failures grew more and more evident and disturbing as the film progressed. But the greatest and most unforgivable trait of this piece of crap is its utter delight in pandering to America's current obsession with enjoying images of violence against living things -- human, animal, alien, zombie, vampire, essentially anything that moves -- and dressing it up as something thoughtful, original, entertaining. A.O. Scott in the New York Times, always a reliable reverse indicator, called it a "smart, swift film". I should have trusted this to mean it would be a hectic, overburdened, self-absorbed Hollywood guy-flick that anyone over 13 would do well to avoid. Don't waste your time: the real world is bad enough.

The mockumentary form for a scifi film was very well done. Along with the plot and South African location, as well as the obvious political similarites to South Africa's past history, this is a unique film on many levels. The only fault I can see is the action sequences near the end of the film. Too much! The ending also was kind of subdued when compared to the rest of the film. Not everyone will enjoy the camera work or the mockumentary style. This is a different scifi film and by different, I am saying unique and distined to be a classic.

This movie was better then I thought it would be. Not only did it have great special effects, but also had a great story with a deep meaning....something you don't find in most sci fi movies. The acting was great, especially with a nobody cast and for once in Peter Jacksons career....the movie didn't go on and on and on. Someone had to of intervened. Anyways, it is a must see and a true piece of art.

This movie was a little hard to grasp at first but once it starts rolling it really grabs you. Anyone that enjoys their imagination will really like this movie. This is one of the most original sci-fi movies that I have seen in a while. Great characters.great special effects, nice story, really cool hope they do a second one. Keith

Not bad! I thought it was a great movie, but the hand held camera/doc**entary style film making got real old after a while. When the hand held camera work started in the beginning... I figured it would eventually end... and it never did!! To many close up shots as well. Strange.
