My friend and I researched this film and were impressed by its critical acclaim so we saw it without bias as lovers of British cinema; apparently we're more Rumpole of the Bailey than Deep Blue Sea. To all the cinema critics that we hold personally responsible for the loss of two hours each from our valuable lives, I say The Emperor Has No Clothes. The conflict was as deep as the pathos of Junior High school girl Diary entries, and revealed as little detail, in shots extended in time far past what is comfortable to watch, between people I wasn't like and didn't relate to played under a heavy veil of classical orchestration that led up to, say, the soldier tells the girl "That's no line; you really are the most attractive girl I've seen". I kept watching; my friend fell asleep. The consistently slow pace lagged further especially after several constrained discussions of the meaning of love so the actors started screaming at each other. This woke up my friend. I whispered to him "Do you think those critics didn't want to be the only ones that got burned?" There was a good scene between the self absorbed Hester and her working landlady who had a fine relationship with her bed-ridden old husband, but this was a brief oasis. Very nice, though. I wish the irrelevant main characters with their slowly saddening expressions had been the subtext to the landlady, instead of the maudlin reverse.

I just saw this stupid film. It is a stupid waste of time - EVEN FOR FREE! Yes, it was well shot and acted. BUT IT IS ABOUT CRAP!!!
There are certainly no useful role models in this film. Its about a stupid, imbecile of a woman who gives up everything to think she is in love with some war hero fly-boy. Aimless people who cant control anything of their lives go nowhere and are miserable. Want the same effect at home. Take your smelliest dirty laundry and put it in a bag and then put your head in the bag so you can hardly breath for 2 hours. Voila! You got it.

I do not care what the critics say, I loved this film and I think it is worth seeing in the theaters. i loved the story and I think it was very interesting and engaging. It is a very emotional film and the director could have not chosen a better actress for this role, Rachel Weiz is brilliant in this film. In my opinion, it is one of the best performances of her career and she had lost of great roles. The film is about passion and what is does to people and it is about getting your heart broken and hopefully learning from it and I could relate to all of that and i think many people can. Overall, I think this film was brilliant and I had a great time watching it.

This is a romantic comedy about the wife of a British Judge is caught in a love affair with a Royal Air Force pilot, the film is directed by Terence Davies and stars Rachel Weisz, Tom Hiddleston and Ann Mitchell. I liked this film and if you like serious, mature and thoughtful films you will love this movie as well. I found this film to be very sophisticated and interesting and the acting was amazing. It is a pretty sad film but I did not mind that because it examined things that were interesting and important to me. Rachel Weisz was absolutely wonderful and I have so much respect and admiration for this beautiful actress. I really liked the atmosphere that was created in this film, it complimented the characters and their emotions. Overall, this film is for more mature audience and this selected audience will really appreciate this movie.
