Deadfall Movie Reviews
User reviews on Deadfall
I had high hopes for this film, I mean the cast is awesome and the plot is really dark. However, the film fell short somewhere, it never felt suspenseful enough and I did not really believe anything I was seeing, overall I was disappointed. The film was quite unoriginal as well and i have seen this kind of film many times before. I also did not enjoy the violence, there was way too much of it and I do not think it was necessary. The action sequences were way over the top and not realistic in any sense. Overall, I did not enjoy watching this film and do not recommend seeing it in the theaters.
Oh Eric Bana! What happened to you? You used to be such a hottie, such a dashing and debonair leading man...but the Hollywood game got old and you seem to not want to play anymore. If that's the case, then it certainly explains why a great actor like you should end up in strictly average fare like your latest almost-dud "Deadfall". Bana obviously likes to act, but he doesn't like the kinds of roles he gets in mainstream Hollywood movies. Like the brother he played in Troy, which was an action-y role without much meat to it. He obviously wants to play things that have more heft but he needs to find a script that can match those ambitions. The story of "Deadfall" is both dead and fallen when it should be alive and kicking with life. There's only so much you can do with another mafia/casino heist movie, and this film proves it. I would only recommend it to diehard fans of Eric Bana. Everyone else will want to stay away.
Hmmm, I guess this is supposed to be a high stakes drama with lots of tension and suspense, but it's really poorly plotted - so poorly that it can't make up for the fact that it has some really good twists and surprise elements in the story. It's about two siblings on the run from a casino heist that goes terribly, horribly wrong. I think I would blame the whole fiasco on Eric Bana who really can't seem to get a decent script in his hands no matter how hard he tries. Olivia Wilde plays his sister (and mercifully not his love interest) so the story tries to be something other than just another tale about spies getting it on. But it never really takes off after the first 15 minutes, which can mean only one thing: there's no proof in this pudding. Still, I give high marks to Bana and Wilde for their performances, as well as Sissy Spacek for her typically awesome performance. Watch it for the acting, not the story.
This is a suspenseful drama about two siblings who who are on the run from a casino heist gone wrong. I thought the film was alright but I do not think it is worth seeing in the theaters, because it is not worth the price of a movie ticket. Even though the film looked great it was very predictable and I knew what will happen at the end of the film within first 10 minutes of it. I also found the film to be too melodramatic for my taste. I also thought that the actors did a good job but the characters were not developed enough, they were very generic. I feel that the film had a lot of potential but it felt forced and fake.
