Conan the Barbarian in 3D Movie Reviews
User reviews on Conan the Barbarian in 3D
It's ok for what it is, but should have been called anything else than Conan. A total insult to the original movie...
The 1982 version of Conan the Barbarian is noteworthy for having kickstarted the "acting" career of Arnold Schwarzenegger. It wasn't very good, but at least it had some humorous moments and so bad it's good dialogue. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't have either of those things, so all it is is just not very good.
Conan is literally born on the battlefield, and raised by his dad to be awesome with the sword. His dad is killed by the evil Khalar Zym, a guy who's trying to put together some mask so he can wield its power. Conan, of course, wants to kill the guy. So you get a lot of bloody battles and beheadings. A LOT.
And that's pretty much all you get. Marcus Nispel directs this film with way too much seriousness. It doesn't have to be a comedy, but it also doesn't have to be humorless. And all the beheadings and blood were just way too much, especially in crappy 3D. Enough already with the 3D.
I was dragged to this movie by my friend who was a huge fan of the 1982 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. poor guy was so excited to see this film and so disappointed after he saw it. I was not disappointed, I knew that this film will be bad, what I did not know is that it was more than bad, it was almost unbearable. We saw the film in 3D, which was total waste of money and I had a headache afterwards. The movie is a blood bath interrupted by really bad dialogue and characters that are pointless and purposeless. Overall, I absolutely hated this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters.
I knew this film is going to be bad from the previews, but I did not expect it to be as bad as it was. The film is noisy, brutal and vulgar and there is no reason or purpose behind any of the character’s actions, therefore he becomes just a huge mascular guy who slays left and right and growls, it is sad to watch. I saw the film in 3D and I might as well thrown my money to the trash can, because there was no reason to release this film in 3D. Basically, the film fails on all levels and I am really angry that I spent my money on this film. I hope you will read this review and save yourself from “Conan the Barbarian”.
