i dont know how to do a "review".
but i like LOVED the movie Cloverfield. Fo really yo. Except ferr the parts where they were like running. I wanted to BARF. i got sick.
other then that. it was a TIZIGHT MOVIE. uh huh. true dat.
This is the worst movie I’ve ever sat through. I wanted to walk out in the first ten minutes but stayed because surely it would somehow get better. Wow, it only got worse and worse until it abruptly ended without an ending. To add insult was the 25 minutes of television commercials prior to the movie.
OMG, after all the great reviews, I am so amazingly stunned at how horrible this was. It is so nice to know that there are other people out there with some taste and a brain (who hated this movie). Let’s see, just so this isn’t a bashing for no good reason. The handheld was WAY too much. It didn’t do it’s job. I was nearly sick 1/2 dozen times through out the movie. Haven’t they every heard of stabilizers - I mean if it ihad f’ing nightvision (give me a break) it would have stabilizers. It only distracted from the movie instead of adding to it. The characters were virtually all morons and cardboard at that. I have heard over and over that they were average joes and THAT was why it was so great - you could be that average joe. Well shoot me if I am every that stupid. Other things that just fueled my dislike. A woman can RUN after being impaled on rebar and going down 39 flights of stairs. The statue of liberty head is about half the size it really is. They survived a helicopter crash. Did I mention the nightvision on a handheld cam? I was glad when the characters dies, only because I hated them so d*** much. Finally, I went in knowing it was 1st person and handheld - didn’t help in the least. The plot and pacing just sucked. I can’t think of a SINGLE point where I was the least bit scared or experienced the least bit of tension. It was just boring. Just don’t waste your money. I will say the monster was very interestingly articulated as were it’s brood. That is about the only positive I can add - they (the movie makers) didn’t overwhelm you with too much of them nor explain them to death. That was nice. But I say again - don’t waste your money - or if you just have to, spend some extra and get some motion sickness meds before hand.
I give this movie an -5 stars. I just came back from the movie theater and I am embarra**ed. What kind of crap they expect me to pay for, they should pay me $10.00 to see this movie.New York is being destroyed and the Military call for only two jets, must to be low buget. In the thousands of movies I had gone to see this is the worst picture I have ever sat and watched in the movie theater. When they finished this movie and watched what they had and then put it on the market did they think that people are s? that people would watch this movie and walk out afterwards thinking what's going on in Hollywood that this is the best idea for a monster movie that they could come up with. To me is a sad day when monster movies are made like this. This movie is so bad thaI won't go to see another movie and waste my time and money, maybe never again.
Please...this is the worst movie ever! I had a headache afterward. Nothing amazing about this movie. You'll regret it as much as I did! I hated it so much! In summary, worst movie ever...so don't waste your money on it!
I thought this movie had some great moments although it was not wrapped up so neat and tidy. I did like the POV that we were all seeing it for the first time with the characters. Not wild about seeing the "thing" at the end, it looked blurry and thrown together almost like they were pacifying the audience.
My husband thought the action scenes were wonderful when he could get past the motion sickness, I however did not have that problem.
I had heard on another site to stay until all of the credits rolled that there was a small scene at the end that "answered a question" the reviewer added. You may want to stay to see what it is.
All in all I enjoyed the movie, it kept me engaged once the party scenes were at a close, even with the 9/11 influence. The Producers whom ever they may be need to make the distances around the city a bit more believable if they plan a sequel, but this is a fictional movie.
I think the movie was brilliantly done. Those who don't like it seem to fall into the category of folks who like their movies all neat and tidy and all the answers given at the end. Nothing wrong with that--it's just that this movie most definitely isn't like that. I don't know that it's ground breaking, but they were clever in having brought in really good elements from previous film makers. Obviously there's the "Blair Witch Project" influence but they also had some Hitchc*** influence in that they didn't give away everything and left a LOT to your imagination at different times. I also saw lots of influence from some sci-fi movies like Star Wars. I WAS on the edge of my seat and thought they did a tremendous job with this movie. In fact, I'm going back for a second showing tomorrow night!
I don't know about everybody else but i thought it was a really good movie. The camera moving was different than the other movies, but thats what made it special and very creative.
First thing first: I strongly agree with Dana.
I have never written a review.
To be honest, as least in my opinion, this movie is the worst I've ever seen. I had to make an account to write this review. The effects and "tricks" to make it look real are good, I can say best ever since, but the story line and how they film it, give me a DOUBLE U-an OHH-an ARE-an ESS-a TEE.
Look, guys, the only big mistake I found was: after the lovers broke up and the girl went home, the monster's first hit happened only more than a minute after that. And the journey to his girlfriend's apartment was so freaking far. The question is: she got to her house in more than 1 minute????????? ?????????? I found it so funny.
Other wise, they use all the effects really good. But as I said earlier, this movie has the worst story line and make me a headache of my poor brain.
