Grown ups, take heart - there is PLENTY in this movie to keep you entertained too!
"Cloudy 2" is chock-full of both subtle and obvious visual references to blockbuster movies you've seen, and spotting them is a wonderfully entertaining game. Even the quick-cut clips that made up the trailer gave me a sense that a lot of "Jurassic Park" and "Lost World" moments would pop up, and I wasn't mistaken; imagery reminiscent of those two movies are particularly common. I noticed at least one hilarious "King Kong" moment, and there were lots more movies pilfered for ideas. In many cases something just seemed familiar though I couldn't quite place it, and I have a feeling there are many more that I completely missed but will probably slap myself over later when I'm rewatching the DVD (and I WILL get the DVD, and probably watch it more than a good 95% of the target audience). (I'm 40, male, and neither have nor want kids, by the way.)
And that's without even considering the movie itself. If an adventure on an island of bizarre food-monsters where the villain is essentially an evil Steve Jobs isn't enough story to keep you entertained, the performances of James Caan and Mr. T alone are worth at least the price of a matinee ticket. I greatly enjoyed this movies predecessor (on DVD, repeatedly...), but while my initial impression is that this one is ALMOST as good, I haven't seen enough of it to judge the subtleties. Time will tell; this may be one of those few sequels to actually outdo a predecessor that was already pretty darn good.
(If, on the other hand, you don't like movies, then you won't get much out of this and might as well skip it.)
