This film was very cute and interesting and I recommend seeing it in the theaters. If you have children in your life i highly recommend taking them to see this film because it will teach them about nature. The footage in this film is amazing and i could watch those animals for hours, it is so fascinating and cute. Don’t get me wrong, the film is scripted and it does not have a lot to do with how chimps really act in nature but it is Disney and that is almost expected. Overall, I think it is a perfect family film and most people will have a great time watching it.

With the money that Disney has, I would have been surprised if "Chimpanzee" didn't look incredible. But it does. It's a pretty amazing look at the young life of a chimp named Oscar, and I mean amazing. The cameras get so close that you'll feel like you're there with him. Oscar and his mother Isha live in an African rain forest, and we follow them around as they forage for food and Oscar learns about this new world. When another group of chimps comes into contact with Oscar's group, it changes Oscar's life and that of the group's alpha male, Freddy. As I've mentioned the footage is amazing, and tells a pretty incredible story on its own. Unfortunately, this being Disney, they couldn't leave well enough alone, so they brought in Tim Allen to do voice over and anthropomorphize Oscar and the rest of the chimps. This isn't VO to help us understand these creatures and how they live on their own terms, but to put them in human terms. Allen's VO sets up enemies and tries to make us feel things about these animals without any scientific context. It's a real disservice to the audience and to the chimps. It's one of the first times I went to a movie and wished the sound would actually go out.

I thought this film was really cute and very well made and I recommend seeing it in the theaters. The footage in this film is incredible and the chimps are adorable and I could watch them for hours. I took my little niece to see this film with me and she absolutely loved it as did I. There is amazing detail in this film and I really liked the storytelling. The narrative was a bit silly but it was definitely kid friendly and my niece was able to understand everything very clearly. THe film felt personal and it was very involving, I was definitely rooting for the chimps. Overall, if you have children than I suggest you take them to see this film, they will love and you will have a great time as well.

This film is definitely not scientific in any way and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. I hate when Disney humanize animals and I think it teaches children wrong things about nature. I also thought that the narration was stupid and kind of mocking as well, I was really annoyed by it. I mean the chimps are extremely cute and the footage is pretty great as well but there are many doc**entaries that do not treat animals as humans and teach children that we should respect nature instead of thinking it’s cute or whatever. Overall, I do not recommend seeing this film in the theaters.
