Carancho (Las heridas) Movie Reviews

It was hard for me to watch this film, it was so in your face cruel and it was so full of bloody and very realistic scenes. I think the film was good it just was not for me. I had an accident with my car and it traumatized me for life and seeing a movie that is mainly about car accidents did not suite me well. For the most of the movie my eyes were closed and my boyfriend’s hand sure suffered a lot because I was squeezing it the whole time. This movie is pretty brutal and hard to digest if you are anything like me. Ricardo Darin is amazing in this role and Martina Guzman is superb as well. The two of them have a perfect chemistry in the film and I was hoping so much that they will end up living happily ever after, but of course it did not turn out that way. Overall, I think the movie is very well done and has amazing performances but it was way too dark and sad for my taste.
I am conflicted about this film, I liked it and in the same time I did not like it. Most of the film takes place during the nigh time and it is always raining. The director chose to film the movie in a way that it looks sort of blurred and out of focus and the colors of the movie are muddy, therefore it adds to the movie’s overall theme of corruption and darkness. Therefore, the movie is a bit depressing and dark, however the acting in the film is absolutely superb. Ricardo Darin is a huge star in Argentina and i understand why. He is exceptionally good actor and the chemistry between him and Martina Gusman is superb. They make a very likable and believable couple but it is very obvious that they are doomed from the beginning. The movie is about one disaster after another and I was depressed after it. As you can see I am not sure if I liked it or hated it, therefore I recommend going to see it for yourself.
I absolutely loved this film and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. The movie has it all, it is a thriller with a few scenes of violence, a drama and it also has amazingly developed characters. Pablo Trapero, who wrote, directed and produced the film, did an excellent job in all the areas. In my opinion, he is one of the best directors of our time, the characters in the film were flawlessly developed, the film was realistic and yet emotional and relateble, the cinematography was absolutely beautiful . Ricardo Darin completely blew me away with his performance, he is an amazing actor and he made the character so believable. Darin and Gusman have an undeniable chemistry and it makes the movie that much better. I can honestly say, that this movie is the best I have seen this year.
