What a sad movie. I like movies that make you think and explore your emotions and I like movies that move you. This film did not do any of those hings, it was just hard to watch because it was so sad. t seems that the director wanted his main character to suffer infinetely and then die. I admire Javier Bardem, he is a truly extraordinary actor and so freaking gorgeous and he was very very good in this movie, but I did not enjoy the film. The movie was 2 and a half hours of misery, sadness, death, sorrow, loneliness, injustice etc. One scene made me literally sick to my stomack and I am not a softie. It is a very grim story and if you do not want to feel very very down, do not see this film. I was depressed for a week after seeing it.
This movie is the saddest film I have seen in my entire life. I was waiting for some sort of relief throughout the whole movie, but it kept getting sadder and sadder. It seemed like the main character Uxbal is doomed and there is no light in the end of the tunnel for him. His life is series of terrible events and its filled with dysfunctional people. The movie will make you think but it will not touch you emotionally. I honestly did not care for Uxbal’s character and all his suffering. Javier Bardem is really good as usual and I thought that the film was full of strong performances, but none of them were releatable and that is a major problem of this film. The film was beautiful and powerful visually, but it did not connect on the emotional level. I do not recommend seeing it because it will make you loose your will to live. It is so incredibly sad.
This movie made me so sad, actually it literally made me depressed. It was way too much sadness and hoplesness in this film and no light in the end of the tunnel whatsoever. It was two an a half hours of watching the main character being destroyed with no hope for better times. I did think that technically and artistically the film was very good and beautiful in a sad way, but I could not get over the way it made me feel. I also did not think that the film was relateble, therefore the movie was just plain depressing and nothing else. I did not like the movie, but I can not deny that Javier Bardem is excellent in this film and he plays the character perfectly. Overall, I wish I did not see this film because it made me so unbelievably sad. I do not recommend seeing it, unless you wish to be sad and depressed for the rest of the week.
