Bereavement Movie Reviews
User reviews on Bereavement
Bereavement is a horror/thriller movie set in the late ‘80s. It is a pretty small-budget movie and doesn’t really have any recognizable actors in it. It is about a kid who is kidnapped from his backyard swing in a small town in Pennsylvania. The evil person in the film kept him locked up on his pig farm and forced the child to watch unspeakable horrors. I usually love horror movies, and Bereavement does not disappoint. The movie is very dark, but I guess that is pretty obvious for a horror movie. I was a little thrown off by how dumb some of the characters were. For example, the girl in the movie just decides to rush into the freaky farmhouse down the street. But I guess that is the same for a lot of scary movies, you want to yell at the screen and say “what the hell are you doing?” The movie was definitely a little corny but overall I really enjoyed this film.
The film is a failure and i do not recommend seeing it unless you have nowhere else to spend your cash(hey give it to me then). The film has incredibly stupid dialogue and even stupider characters, such as Allison whose actions made me want to shake her till she gets smarter or something. The tension is completely killed in this film by the endless and very dumb monologues by the killer. The film is also very gory but you do not feel bad for the characters that are being tortured because you really do not know much about these characters and there is no point in caring for them. I think this film is a complete waste of time and i hope you will read this review and save your money and time.
I think the film was alright but it was way too complicated and, in my opinion, the director wanted to achieve too much. The most of the time the film felt more like a drama rather than a horror movie, because it had too many parent-child relationship themes. The characters in the film had depth and were interesting but it was way too much for a horror film. The killer in the film has no mystery about him and it took away a lot of intensity from the movie. The film is amazing visually and the director is very good in setting up shots that will frighten you without cheap tricks. The actors in the movie did very well and the film was very good technically but the storyline is not good at all.
