Bedtime Stories Movie Reviews

Adam Sandler plays yet another ordinary guy whose life is changed when he discovers he has a special power. This time, there’s no remote control involved; instead, his bedtime stories start to come true, affecting his real life in ways that get messy. Perhaps kids will be impressed by the effects used here to bring the stories to life, but I wasn’t. Sandler didn’t seem to be particularly interested in his acting here, either. Mostly it’s one of those half-thought out time-wasters that pass for children’s movies these days, with a few funny moments and a lot of cameos. Overall it just had a lot of the hallmarks of the kind of movie that’s constantly trying to distract you from how mediocre it is—look, here’s some 3-D! Look, here’s Russell Brand playing an idiot again! Sandler might have a future in kid’s movies, he’s good with the kids here and I liked how he handled “Big Daddy.†But if he’s going the Disney route, he needs better material.
This movie will be forgotten in about a month. Adam Sandler’s latest kid friendly flick, Bedtime Stories, is basically just for kids. The humor isn’t that smart and though the movie is bright and fun I don’t think adults will enjoy it that much. It is very slow to get to the point and the whole fantasy sequences (the stories that Sandler tells) seem utterly pointless and aren’t really that funny. Sandler himself seems to not really care about the movie and just goes about his lines as if in a daze. The special affects in the stories are used to make the stories seem amazing instead of a good story line.
Kwrry Russel and Courtney Cox are in this forgettable film as well. And though all the secondary characters show up in the stories you never really care about the characters or what is going to happen to them. Kids should find this humorous, as there are gross (in kid ways like a booger monster) monsters and lots of kicks in the crotch. What could have been a cute, funny story seems more of an after thought with phoned in performances. These people should know better by now.
Go see this if you have kids under the age of nine. If they have any type of personality go see something else that you might enjoy as well.
