Wow, way to inject some life into what had become the worst movie franchise in the history of Movie franchises. The original batman with Michael Keaton was great but the ones that came after it took a very sharp nose dive.
So I have to thank Christopher Nolan who was able to resurrect Batman from, what I thought was, a dark, cold death. This movie was much darker than any that came before it, and it wasn’t played campy at all. Christian Bale was a wonderful Batman, tormented but yet still fun. Liam Neeson is always a pleasure to watch and Cilian Murphy as the Scarecrow was quirky yet believable. Even Katie Holmes wasn’t that bad, although I did feel her character was a little too judgemental. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman stole each scene that they were in. And Rutger Hauer was in this as well. I just loved the whole cast.
The action is great and the story line is fun. Batman returns to Gotham to try and clean up the city. Although I’ve never been a big believer in vigilante justice, Batman makes a good case for every city having their own crime fighting super hero, though I guess Batman isn’t really a super hero he just has a lot of cool toys that make him seem super hero like. Loved his car, driving that just seemed like a good time.
This is a must see for anyone who died a little when they first saw nipples on the bat suit.
Batman is all about getting p****. I dont care who you are, what your beliefs are, that's what is. Now I thought that David Spade was an odd choice to play the role of Bruce Wayne, but surprisingly he pulled it off. Now the movie begins somewhat shockingly (With a 5 minute scene of Spade jacking off into the camera) and it only gets better from there. I especially loved the scene where the Joker (played by James Woods) rips the intestines out of all the babies in the Gotham nursery and uses them as a jump rope as he skips through a burning orphanage. The symbolism really speaks to me. I think that as a whole, this movie is really trying to send the message that it is ok to butt rape the elderly, because they do NOT have any rights.
