This is a disaster epic about a dark chapter in China’s history. I did not really like this film and i don’t think it is worth seeing in the theaters. The film was highly uneven and because of that it was hard to watch and enjoy. It is really great in certain moments but it does not come together well and the stories do not have cohesive links. The film was produced in China and it is impressive because the quality is high and the film looks great, so I guess soon China will start making amazing films as well... The performances in the film were amazing and it definitely improved the film. Overall, this epic is better off watched at the comfort of your home.
