What did I think of this Movie? Hmmm let me say this reminds me a lot of Ferngully. Do you remember that one? I do. But with a twist. A lot more action and special effects. Basic theme though just a wee bit more violent. At the end you get to see the bad guys lose.
GREAT GREAT GREAT REALLY GREAT MOVIE. I WOULD GO AGAIN FOR SURE AND OWN IT WHEN IT COMES OUT FOR SURE. DID I MENTION WHAT A GREAT MOVIE THIS WAS. TOOK MY WIFE AND ONCE AGAIN I DIDNT WANT TO GO BUT AGAIN IT WAS HER TURN TO PICK THE MOVIE ESPECIALLY WHEN I READ HOW LONG IT WAS. BOY AM I GLAD SHE TALKED ME INTO GOING. GREAT FROM START TO FINISH NOT A DULL MOMENT AT ALL. VERY FUN TO WATCH. I ALSO FOUND MYSELF FEARING HOW HIGH THEY APPEARED WHEN THEY WERE WAY IN THE SKY. GREAT MOVIE. SIA GET OVER IT!
loved the 3d outstanding, and thought the environmental message was outstanding too; I like it like an axe to the head and would like to see environmentalist naysayers end up like the bad guys in this movie; I love Cameron, he's an unabashed romantic at heart as we know from his 5 or 6 marriages; that he finally became a bit of an environmentalist is just a happy frosting on his cupcake; in an interview with Oprah this week he said he never noticed trees before he saw his own finished film. He's clearly a fan of strong active women heroes and I'm totally behind that as I began my now nearly obsessive love of Ripley as he advanced her story in Aliens [the best sci-fi film EVER]. I'm hoping for an Avatar sequel and he hinted at it in the Oprah interview. He's still the KING of the WORLD! cool. :D
More than a Sci-Fi movie! Incredible visuals and just as interesting storyline with believable characters that weave you into the movie along with the very realistic 3D virtual world. Am going to see it again. Several people actually applauded after the movie... I was one of them. Finally, a movie worth going to the theater to see. Home theaters will not be able to do this movie justice like the big screen at the theater.
Great date night movie, family movie, or for the avid seeker of Big Screen magic. I am going to see this again with a friend, family member or by myself. Worth watching several times.
I enjoyed the amazing visual effects in 3D AVATARS. To me it was top of the line, but I can't say the same about the story. Filmmakers have a big responsibility specially the high profile ones like James Cameron. During these tough times when terrorists around the world are looking for ways to motivate an recruit members to attack United States, movies like AVATAR come in as handy propaganda tools to persuade and encourage the enemies of the state to be more hostile against U.S. forces in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. James Cameron displays U.S. forces as senseless, brutal, and greedy occupiers that will destroy anything and everything in their path for money and power. I think to stop terrorism we must start from Hollywood. Stop the greed in HWD
Saw 3D for second time, yesterday. Movie has appeal on soo many levels. Yes, the visual effects are stunning (almost overwhelming)... but, to a history buff, it is the message... the lesson that lingers.
It is... a classic, good vs evil "morality play"; a poignant love story that is magnetic; a cry for committment to the environment; a political statement on the evils of "might vs right" (though somewhat oblique one cannot walk away from this story without seeing Iraq and the jungles of Viet Nam in visage and dialogue).
"Pandora" is hostile country where the “Navee” culture is being sacrificed… not unlike what "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee” and “Dances with Wolves” taught us about our expansion westward over a century ago.
This movie is powerful. It is beautiful. Prepare to be more than just entertained!!
Awesome movie- it may look like it is for kids but it really is just an awesomely animated war movie with everything you see nowadays, which is why it is rated for 13 viewing...
Movie was long but it didnt feel really long- the length was great for the storyline and even without the 3D effects- the movie was totally worth see and buying!
I love how this movie shows the truth about innocence and how so many people are materialistic nowadays... it is a sad life we live in today- I would give it all up to be an Avatar if it was real!~
Movie had suspense, adventure, romance, war and comedy all in one! A materpeice of it's time!!!! A
This is a movie with GREAT Special Screen Effects and a good movie plot as well. I was totally entertained and YES I will BUY this movie.
I haven't seen a 3D movie in years, I thought this one might be
worth seeing in 3D and iI did enjoy it.
Essay Papers, whoever you are, you are the textbook defenition of a hater. This movie was beautiful thing. Pamela, whoever you are, a five year old could learn the lessons this movie offers. A quality that you are sorely in need of in order to enjoy this film is compassion. The other possibility is that you are simply not that bright.
I would probably give this review a 3.5 stars out of 5 if that was an option.
I really went to see this movie for what it was - an amazing advance in 3D technology that kind of blows your mind. There where scenes that took place high up in the air as the characters ran across thin pieces of land floating in the air and I actually found myself getting a little afraid of heights due to the realism of the technology used to create the effects in this film.
Is this film a remake of "Dances With Wolves?" No. Is it similar? Yes. It's similar in the sense that you have this kind of "white man" coming to kill the natives theme to the plot with one or more of the "white men" sympathizing and then helping the natives, but after that the plot diverges from "Dances With Wolves" and takes its own path on a slightly different journey.
If you are really into the graphics that this movie provides I recommend going to see it but if you are looking for an extremely deep original plot, wait for the DVD. Don't see this unless it's 3D.
