I wasn't thrill when my friend wanted to see it first in our academy award round up. Silent film, skeptical, but it keeps u enthralled from the beginning. I loved the messages that nothing lasts forever, when the chips r down and u get lost in self pity don't b too proud to accept help, and know that the art of gratitude for being helpful is not lost.
The story is simple but moves well. Last but not least the doggie should get his own academy award! This film was a nice surprise.

I don't get all the raves about this picture. It certainly is a daring and admirable enterprise to produce a silent movie, and it would have been a very good silent movie in the 20's, but I just don't see how it can be put in the same league as the other Oscar candidates this year. The story line of the impact of talkies on actors, producers, etc., has been done many times before, and this one was disappointingly predictable and somewhat boring. I kept waiting for the story to take an unexpected turn which would have made it special but it never did. The actors performed well, but not at a level which would set them apart from the other Oscar candidates for best acting. The only actor that was truly outstanding was the dog! The dog was marvelous!. For me, the Artist was a good quality silent movie, nothing more.

I liked this movie very much. I regret that the director allowed the reuse of the Love Theme from Vertigo to be used as the climax music. It is too important a scene in the film to deflect the attention to an iconic Bernard Hermann composition to steal the scene.
As an homage, it's right on point. A tad too long, but I forgive them Altogether, it is wonderful to see.
Please find a photo of Jean duJardin and Berenice Bejo to post in this movie profile. They are the stars of this film, and it is inexcusable that you have not put their photos here.

Creative, daring (black and white, silent), wonderful set decoration, both lead actors played their roles well with the woman (Peppy Miller) VERY photogenic. I have, however, seen several films this year which were much better, plus, I wince whenever I see the Weinstein Production Company backing a film. Oh, and I dozed off 8-9 times. Be prepared to be disappointed

It was really hard to convince my friends to see this film because as soon as they heard that it is a silent film that is in black and white they made up excuses not to see it. But I am very persistant and I finally convinced my friends that it is worth a try and they are still thanking me to this day. I guarantee that you will love this film and will make it your mission to convince people to see it because that is exactly what happened to me. I am officially in love with this film because it is truly profound and I really hope it will win the best picture because it really deserves it. This film warmed my heart and i had a smile on my face all the way back home.

This is a romance set in 1927 Hollywood about a silent movie star George Valentin and a young dancer Peppy Miller, the film is directed by Michel Hazanavicius and stars Jean Dujardin, Bérénice Bejo and John Goodman. I absolutely loved this film and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. This film was such a breath of fresh air and if you are looking for a great time this is a film for you. The film is simple and pure, it goes back to the basics where there are no flashy special effects to distract the audience from the plot and the acting, this film is absolutely beautiful, I wish more films like this would be shown in the theaters. If you are a fan of classic Hollywood films, you will fall in love with this movie.

I thought this was a beautiful and amazing film and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. This film has a massive appeal and I think that it will be nominated or at least it should be They do not make films like this anymore and I really wish they did, it is simple and incredibly refreshing and also very entertaining, basically it has everything that one could want from a film. If you love classic Hollywood films you will absolutely love this film and even if you are not a fan you will still have a great time.
