I am very confused about this film and I am not quite sure if I hated it or loved it. The idea of the story is a little bit unbelievable but interesting, the film is all about second chances and I like that idea, however some of the scenes in the film are ridiculous and do not work. I thought that the film will have some sci-fi moments but the new planet that appears in the sky has really nothing to do with sci-fi. The film has a really good idea and sometimes it shines through, unfortunately there are many scenes that should have been cut or edited differently. -
This is a sci-fi film that is directed by Mike Cahill and starring Brit Marling, William Mapother and Matthew-Lee Erlbach. I think that the film had great ideas and very interesting story but the filmmakers had a hard time connecting those ideas into a cohesive film. The film is really about fate and forgiveness but the filmmakers tried to include sci-fi into it and it did not really work. However, the film has great moments in it and it makes you think and wonder about fate and irony of life, I really liked that part of the film. Overall, I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters but I do recommend seeing it at home when it is released on DVD.
