thought it was going to be more exciting. The previews were pretty much the movie in my opinion. Not Denzel's best acting and I am a Denzel fan! The action just did'nt have that kick butt knack.

Denzel does it again. I didnt think he could out do his bad a** role in training day but he did. An amazing story that i left having feeling like i saw resevoir dogs or boondock saints for the first time. Running drugs, mob type hits, and crime family drama. I loved it.

This is really not as good as you anticipate from Ridley Scott. The story, plot, characters and cinematography were all just okay. This film did nothing that hasn't already been done. Overall dissapointing and the terrible ending nailed the coffin.

Exciting account of heroin trading and police corruption during the late Vietnam years. Based on real life events, the story focuses on both drug king pin, Frank Lucas, (Denzel Washington) and his rise to power as well as and New Jersey detective, Ritchie Roberts (Russell Crowe) and his efforts to uncover those involved in New York’s drug trade. Director Ridley Scott and has helped create a gritty 1970’s thriller that pays tribute to gangster films like Black Caesar and The Godfather but with a new twist where honesty, conscientiousne ss and dedication to due process ultimately prevail.
Dazzli ng acting by Crowe and Washington together with near perfect directing from Scott make this one of the best organized crime films to come around in a quite awhile.

You need to be a Denzel fan to really enjoy this true story as he is the same smart, tough guy he is so comfortable playing. The film pulls you in with it's great casting but feels a little self serving at the same time.(Hard not to feel this way after hearing of Frank's,"The American Ganster's" involvement in the film) The pace of the film is perfect and the story entertaining. The main characters were complex and strangely likable as they both shared a mixed bag of moral codes. All in all, worth your time, but not worth the standing O that some in the audience gave it.
