Some of my buddies thought this movie was made too "by the book" for their tastes and wanted something different for the Spider-Man reboot. To prove them wrong, I took them to see it in IMAX and now they can't stop babbling about how effing awesome it is! Most superhero movies don't get an IMAX release these days, but since this movie came out over the July 4th week I guess it was a good way for the studio to pocket some extra cash . . . but it really does make for an unbelievable viewing experience to watch it on the IMAX screen. The tickets can be a bit pricey (especially if you're the only paying, hint hint) but if you love comic books and you love Peter Parker, then you'll have your breath taken away by this phantasmagoria on screen. It's just too much to take it all in at once so you'll walk out feeling like you've just experienced sensory overload. And for a movie like this, that's just right.

If you're only going to see one movie on the IMAX screen this year (and let's face it, how many do we actually see every 12 months) then it should be this movie. There's so much to take in and so much to behold that you just can't help but be swept away by the grand spectacle of it all on the IMAX screen. A large part of the movie's charm rests on the capable shoulders of Andrew Garfield, a young actor who is as talented as he is handsome. He brings a sweet vulnerability to the part of Peter Parker, making him an aloof loner who just wants to know what happened to his parents. Emma Stone, Sally Field, and Martin Sheen are all great in their parts, but the scene stealer has to be Rhys Ifans who plays a scientist that knows the truth about Peter's parentage. There are so many things going on in this movie that in the end you'll wonder if you got even half of it. It's a super superhero movie!

I think superhero movies released during the summer movie season tend to be the same after a while - remember The Green Lantern and how awfl that was? Thor was pretty forgettable too. But The Amazing Spider-Man is really amazing on the IMAX screen. This has to be because the movie has so many scenes that show Spider-Man being chased across the skyline of New York City and the magnitude of the screen really brings the story to life. You feel like you are seeing it right in front of you. Sometimes I will admit that the picture is almost too clear on IMAX. It looks almost animated in certain scenes - and I guess it is. But that doesn't take away from the fact that the makers have really utilized the latest technology to bring this often told story to life. I wasn't sure if it would look right on IMAX, but I think it mostly does and everyone I went to see it wish also agreed.

I think of all the movies I have ever had to sit through on an IMAX screen because of my kids, this one ranks right at the top. I liked the older version of Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, but these ones tae a more fresh and dramatic turn since the story is about what happens to Peter Parker internally and not just to the inside of his body. He seems to be a much more moody and intense figure than he was in the last film, which makes him more interesting to me as a moviegoer. My kids enjoyed all the special effects stuff in the movie, especially when Spider Man is battling the villains, the city is falling apart, or Emma Stone is in her lab doing some strange science experiments, but I really liked the story. It has been beautifully filmed and put together and you really get an appreciation for the process when you see it on IMAX. So my advice is to take the kids, pile them into the minivan, and then pack your patience - but I promise you will have a ball. A+ from this pleased momma.

Sometimes IMAX movies can make me feel kind of dizzy and nauseated, but this one was actually pretty cool. I'm not sure if all the different formats they are releasing the movie in include different or additional scenes because different scenarios look better on IMAX or only make sense on an IMAX screen, but this version seemed to be a bit longer than the regular one. I'm pretty sure they added a few minutes of chases and aerial shots to take full advantage of the IMAX screen. Did they do the same thing for Avatar? Probably, they always know how to milk it, haha. If you've seen the original films with Tobey Maguire you might want to stay away from these because a) they're pretty much the same and b) they're not as good. If you haven't seen the original movies or you didn't like those, then you might want to check these out. I think it was worth the money but I would only see them once.

I think the last movie I saw on an IMAX screen was Fantasia 2000 which came out 12 when years ago when I was just a kid. My parents said they wanted to treat me to a movie for the Independence Day Weekend and so I chose this one. This was the right choice for the family because it's a movie about Spider-Man's search for his parents and where he may have come from. My parents were touched by how much this movie was about a son's desire to reunite with his real parents after being raised by two very sweet adoptive parents. This movie is also worth seeing in IMAX because it gives you a full experience of the visuals that a regular size screen just can'. All those images of Spider-Man scaling the sides of buildings while trying to get around NYC or battle the bad guys were amazing on the IMAX screen and even my parents couldn't stop raving about it. Maybe if I'm really, really good they'll take me to see it in IMAX 3D!

I think this film was pretty great and I recommend seeing it in the theaters. My friend loves Spider-Man films and he always takes me to see these films and I do not mind because they are usually good and this film was no exception. I thought that the story was very interesting, the film looked good and it also had a great cast. I have never really seen Andrew Garfield in a film before so this was my first time and he impressed me quite a bit. I also liked Emma Stone as Spider-Man’s love interest, she was convincing and likable. Overall, i think this is a great summer film that will leave you satisfied.
