So I have decided to see this film after i saw that Glenn Close was nominated for the best actress for this film. What can i say, I was disappointed with this movie and even though Glenn Close is really amazing in it I do not think it is worth seeing in the theaters. the film was very boring and i could not wait to leave the theater, i actually fell asleep during the film and that never happens to me. I felt that the film was very restrained just like the main character and it never let the audience really see the essence of it. The story was also really sad, it was like watching a quiet desperation and I just wanted to shake the main character and tell her to start living her life. Overall, this film was not my cup of tea and the only thing i have enjoyed was Glenn Close’s performance.

I like movies that have an authentic historical element in addition to the story. The set really takes you back to old Ireland and how it must have been at that time in that society. The acting was superb as was the story and it's twists.
It's not an action movie, but an engrossing movie.

I think this film was great and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. I think this movie is not made for a wide audience and not everybody will understand it or like it but I thought it was pretty great. The film is very powerful and very sad and I absolutely loved the way Glenn Close portrayed Albert, I think she deserves an Oscar for this role. You do have to prepare yourself to be pretty bummed out by this film but I consider that to be a good thing because if a movie can make you feel strong emotions then I think it is a good one. The film is really about the desire to be free and desire to feel loved and unfortunately the main character never gets to experience either of those things. It is a quiet film and I bet a lot of people will miss and that will be their loss.

I am not sure if I liked or hated this film but I am sure that it is not worth seeing in the theaters. The film was pretty boring and the main character was so sad and depressing that it was hard for me to watch. Glenn Close is definitely a a very good actress and she gave it her all in this role but I do not understand why she wanted to play this character in the first place. I felt that the character was too afraid to show who she really is and because of that the audience did not get a chance to really get to know her and could not relate to her. I think that the film is pretty forgettable and kind of boring and I think it is not worth your time or your money.

I did not like this film because it was incredibly sad and too slow and boring for my taste. I enjoyed the performances in this film and Glenn Close was excellent as always but I am not sure if I liked that she played the character in such an understated way. I also did not think that she looked like a man and she definitely needed more make up and that is a compliment for her. I felt that this film needed more life in it and the characters seemed a bit lifeless as well. Overall, I admired the acting in this film but did not like the film itself.

I think the film was alright but I do not think it is worth seeing in the theaters. The film was just really sad and depressing, it was really about lives that were not lived and love that could never be expressed and that is extremely saddening to me. Glenn Close is one of my favorite actresses and I have a tremendous amount of respect for her, i thought that her performance was very calculated and repressed but I guess that is how she sees the character. The only problem is that the character is so closed off that it is hard to root for her and it makes the audience indifferent. There are many supporting characters that are very interesting though and i enjoyed seeing how the filmmakers revived old Dublin. Overall, I suggest renting this film when it comes out on DVD.

This is a drama set in 19th century Ireland about a woman who pretends to be a man in order to survive and finds herself trapped in the lie that she has created, the film is directed by Rodrigo García and stars Glenn Close, Mia Wasikowska and Aaron Johnson. This was a sad film about chances not taken and lives that were not lived and even though it was acted wonderfully it did not impress me overall. The film was obviously trying to be thought-provoking and intriguing but it did not succeed in that, instead it made me wonder why so many questions were unanswered in this film. I also found this film to be inconsistent with its tone and that can get really confusing. Overall, i feel like this film was unfinished and i do not recommend seeing it in the theaters.
