This movie had so much potential with some great actors but never comes close to being good. About a reckless son, Bobby, (Joaquin Phoenix) who becomes torn when he finds himself in the middle of a battle between his brother and father who are both NYPD police officers, and a ruthless Russian drug dealer. Director/writer James Gray, shows us the conflict between the brothers but never really develops Bobby’s ethical dilemma long enough to build tension or create excitement. After the first half of the film, the story falls flat. And, even a car chase and shoot out scene in the rain can’t save the film.
IS THAT ALL THERE IS? The ending was sooo LAME. The story starts out with great promise with a great cast and pretty good acting, it's the story that falls flat leaving the audience feeling like they opened all of their presents on Christmas morning and got nothing they antisipated or wanted. It's a sad day when I could have written a better ending.
