This was a great film and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. My friend recently was diagnosed with cancer and it was the most terrible and confusing time of my life, i can not even imagine how he felt. This film shows the reality and it does not manipulate the feelings of the audience, it is straight forward and genuine. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is an amazing young actor and he carried the role beautifully, I can not imagine any other actor playing this role. I have always liked Levitt and in this film he proved once again that he can play any character and make it genuine and human. Overall, this is the film to see and tell others about it.
I've dealt with cancer and its effects a lot in my life. I know that it can be devastating, but just like the rest of life, there can be laughs within the pain. Most films deal with this pain by making it overly sad and sappy. 50/50, while not a perfect film, deals with cancer in a very real way, mixing the seriousness of the situation with humor that is very effective.
The film was written by Will Reiser, who based the script on his own experience dealing with cancer. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Adam, the Reiser character, and as usual, is excellent. Adam finds that he has a tumor in his back, and the film follows him as he deals with that, and how those around him deal with it. This includes his best friend (Seth Rogen, playing Seth Rogen as usual), his mom, and his girlfriend (the women are written more a caricatures than the guys).
It's nice to have a film that doesn't shy away from the awkwardness of having a disease. People don't know what to say or how to react, and that leads to a lot of interesting moments. It's just like life. While the film does eventually have a hard time staying away from treacle, overall, it's a very funny movie that takes a real subject and treats it like it really is.
I liked this film, even though I usually d not like films about cancer, it makes me too sad. This film is a cancer film, there is no doubt about it, however it had some nice comedy in it and the acting was very strong. I liked that the film was straightforward, honest and very realistic, it did not bulls*** the audience and I always appreciate it. I thought that Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a great job with his role, he was very believable and likeable, I also really liked Seth Rogen, I usually get annoyed by him but he was great in this film. Overall, i highly recommend seeing it in the theaters.
I liked this film and I think it is worth seeing in the theaters. I thought that the film was quite funny even though the laugh is mixed with sorrow. I thought that Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a great job with the role. I understood the anger that Adam felt throughout the film and I love that the director mixed it with humor. I think that the director Jonathan Levine did an an amazing job with this film, he did not make it too sad or heavy and in the same time the audience was able to understand the seriousness and the tragedy of the situation. Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt did very good job with their roles and I was very impressed. Overall, I recommend seeing it in the theaters.
This is a film about a 27 year old guy who gets diagnosed with cancer, the film is directed by Jonathan Levine and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen and Anna Kendrick. I think that it was a great film and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. I bet it is not easy to make a film like this, but the director pulled it off and I had a really good time watching it. It is hard to watch sometimes even though there are laughs in the film you feel like you should not really laugh. I thought that the film was quite funny but mostly it is angry and I understand, if I was diagnosed with cancer at 27 I would be furious as well. Overall, I really liked this film and I think it is worth seeing in the theaters.
