Rupert Wainwright (born 30 November 1963) is an English film and television director, writer, and actor. Wainwright was born in Cotswolds, UK and started his film career in the 1980s as an actor. While in his twenties, gained some notoriety for a short film called Open Window. Wainwright has directed several feature films, including: Stigmata, Blank Check and The Sadness of Sex, and The Fog, Both of which were rated #1 at the box office. According to IMDb in October 2010, Rupert has two films in development. Wainwright has directed two TV pilots for CBS and Fox networks, a TV movie for ABC and Warner Bros, and a Reality Pilot for History Channel. He was featured in Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker in February 2010. Wainwright helped MC Hammer become a worldwide phenomenon and multimillion dollar busines, by writing and directing all his music videos from when he had no record contract to the pop sensation of “U Can’t Touch This” and beyond. His work with such artists as NWA, Michael Jackson and many, many others has garnered him five MTV awards, a Grammy, and numerous other awards around the world.
