Robert L. Webber (October 14, 1924 - May 19, 1989) was an American actor who starred as Juror #12 in the 1957 movie 12 Angry Men. Webber born in Santa Ana, California, the son of Alice and Robert Webber, who was a merchant seaman. He was a U.S. Marine during World War II serving on Guam and Okinawa. Webber led a forty year career as a character actor during, which he appeared as Dudley Moore's gay friend in 10 (1979) and Cybill Shepherd's father in the hit series Moonlighting. Other notable turns were in the movies The Sandpiper, in which he played a supporting role as Elizabeth Taylor´s character former lover, opposite as well Richard Burton; The Nun and the Sergeant where he played the lead; The Dirty Dozen where he played a general who bullied Lee Marvin, one of the many LA low lifes Paul Newman encounters in the anti-hero saga; Harper; and a killer in The Silencers. Webber was married to actress and model Miranda "Sammy" Jones on October 1, 1953 and was divorced in July, 1958. He died from Lou Gehrig's disease at age 64 in Malibu, California, survived by his second wife Del Mertens, whom he married on April 23, 1972.
