Actor, Director, Producer and Writer
Richard Alan Dutcher is an American independent filmmaker who produces, writes, directs, edits, and frequently stars in his films. After making God's Army, a successful 2000 movie about LDS missionaries, Dutcher became well known among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and received the nickname "The Father of Mormon Cinema.” Over the next few years, Dutcher made more LDS themed movies that failed to turn a profit. In 2005, Dutcher launched his own film distribution company, Main Street Movie Company, seeking to take his movies from concept to full distribution independently. In 2007, Dutcher left the LDS Church over theological differences.
