Regina King (born January 15, 1971) is an American film and television actress, whose primarily known for her roles in movies and television. King is best known for her role as Mary Jenkins's (played by Marla Gibbs) studious daughter, Brenda Jenkins, on the popular 1980s sitcom, 227. King was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Gloria, a special education teacher, and Thomas King, an electrician. The two divorced in 1979.
