Patrick Connolly Bergin (born February 4, 1951) is an Irish actor. He may be best-known internationally for playing the menacing husband of Julia Roberts' character in the thriller Sleeping with the Enemy. Bergin also appeared as Robin Hood in a 1991 TV movie. He recently played the role of psychotic Provisional Irish Republican Army gunman in Johnny Was, opposite Vinnie Jones and Roger Daltrey. Bergin had a top 10 hit in Ireland with the song "The Knacker", which tells the story of a person who recycles horse carcases and turns them into glue. The song managed to beat Brendan Grace's "Safe Cross Code" with patch the dog, who famously played the organ solo with his prosthetic leg on a Lowrey genie 44 organ, to 10th spot for the week ending 2nd December 1986. Bergin consequently had a massive bust up with then manager Vinnie Kilduff and turned to acting. It is rumoured that Kilduff's moustache and slacks was the inspiration behind the look for Martin,the character he played in the 1991 box office smash "Sleeping With the Enemy".
