Director Noam Murro originally made a name for himself directing commercials. Born and raised in Israel, he was first exposed to movies when his father brought a 8mm film projector back from a trip to the United States.
Murro originally studied architecture at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. In the 1980s he moved to New York to work in the advertising industry, where he became known for directing promotional films. Some of Murro’s advertising work includes spots for E*Trade, Nike, Audi, FreeAgent.com, Sears and Saturn. In 2004 he signed on to direct the horror sequel The Ring Two (2005), but eventually dropped out of the production citing creative differences with DreamWorks.
Murro made his feature film debut with Smart People (2008) a dark comedy starring Dennis Quaid, Ellen Page, Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church. Smart People was chosen to premiere at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
