Ned Thomas Beatty (born July 6, 1937) is an American actor who has appeared in more than 100 films. He came to the fame in 1976, when his performance as CCA chairman Arthur Jensen in Network give his first Academy Award nomination. During his career, Beatty had some memorable roles, including Bobby Trippe in Deliverance; Tennessee lawyer Delbert Reese in Nashville; Mr. Dardis in All the President's Men; Lex Luthor's henchman Otis in Superman: The Movie, Superman II and Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut; businessman Sydney Morehouse in The Toy; twice characters in The Fourth Protocol; Irish tenor Josef Locke in Hear My Song; Rudy Reuttiger's father in Rudy; patriarch Harmo in Sweet Land; U.S. Congressman Doc Long in Charlie Wilson's War and the antagonist voice Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear in Toy Story 3. Beatty has won a Drama Desk Award and a RiverRun International Film Festival for "Master of Cinema" Award in 2006. Beatty was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Margaret Fortney (née Lennis) and Charles William Beatty. He has a sister, Mary Margaret, and a brother.
