Mohan Babu Manchu is an Indian film actor, director, and producer, known for his works predominantly in Telugu Cinema and few Tamil films. Mohan Babu attended the Madras Film Institute and over the years, he has acted in more than five hundred feature films in the lead, supporting and cameo roles. In 1995, he received the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his work in the multi-starrer Pedarayudu which also starred Rajnikanth in a pivotal role. In 2007 he received the CineMAA Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Yamadonga. Mohan Babu was awarded an honorary doctorate from University of California, Berkely for his contribution to the field of cinema and education. In 1980, he starred in the Tamil film, Guru alongside Kamal Hassan. In the same year he portrayed a British commanding officer in Sardar Papa Rayudu, alongside N. T. Rama Rao. He received critical reception for his antagonist roles in films like Alluri Seetharama Raju, Swargam Narakam, Sivaranjani, Padaharella Vayasu, Kondaveeti Donga, Sri Jagadguru Aadi Sankara and many more. A former Physical Education Instructor, Mohan Babu founded the Sri Vidya Niketan Educational Institutions in 1993.
