Leon Liebgold (July 31, 1910, Krakau, Austria (now Kraków, Poland) – September 3, 1993, New Hope, Pennsylvania) was an actor in the Yiddish theatre and Holocaust survivor. He is best known for his roles in Tevye and The Dybbuk. The name Liebgold is German and literally translates into "love gold." Beside working as a vaudeville performer and actor on stages in Poland in his youth he gained fame by acting in a couple of movies including Yidl mit'n Fidl and The Dybbuk. After finishing The Dybbuk, Liebgold and his wife and former co-star, Lili Liliana, left Poland for the United States escaping the Holocaust. After serving the United States as a sergeant during World War II Mr. Liegbold worked as a stage actor in Yiddish theaters in America for decades. In the late 1970s he once was president of the Hebrew Actors' Union in Manhattan. He is burried at Mount Hebron Cemetery. In 1993, Leon Liebgold died at age 83 - a few years after his wife's death.
