Keir David Peters Gilchrist (born September 28, 1992) is a Canadian actor. Gilchrist is known for playing teen Marshall Gregson on Showtime's original series United States of Tara, written by Diablo Cody, and for starring in the 2010 drama-comedy It's Kind of a Funny Story. Gilchrist was born in London, England, where he spent his early years. He has a brother, Evan. His maternal grandfather is Canadian banker, economist, and politician Douglas Peters, and his uncle is economist David Wilfrid Peters. Gilchrist and his family relocated to Boston, Massachusetts during his childhood, and then New York City, before finally settling in Toronto, Ontario. Gilchrist discovered his passion for acting at a young age, and his drama teacher who persuaded him to become a professional actor. He attended the Annex Children's Theatre. Gilchrist portrayed Josh McKellar in Fox's short-lived television show The Winner, as well as Jamie, the boy who had developed a crush on Lizzie, on the show Life with Derek. Gilchrist is currently co-starring as Marshall Gregson on The United States of Tara on Showtime, and played the lead role in the 2010 comedy-drama film It's Kind of a Funny Story.
