Dida Diafat (born April 24, 1970 in Alger, Algeria) is an Algerian who became a world champion in Thai kickboxing or Muay Thai at age 21. A fictionalised version of his life is depicted in the 2005 movie Chok-Dee, in which he plays himself. Dida is the only Thai fighter to win a contract with a French television channel (specifically, Canal+). He is currently working on another movie but has no plans to return to the ring. At the age of 18, Dida Diafat left the town of Villiers le Bel (Val d'Oise) to join the Muay Thai training camps of Thailand and became 3 years later the first Frenchman to be a Muay Thai world champion and of Kickboxing. In France, he still is the only thaiboxer to ever get a contract with a French television channel: Canal +. A year later after his first movie "Chok Dee" (a movie about his life) came out, he is now still pursuing a career in acting and in the clothing business. ___________________
