Film director Deb Hagan was an advertising agency art and creative director before she got into directing. After winning awards for her advertising work, she was hired by the Straw Dogs production company to direct television commercials. After a few years of directing for Straw Dogs, she set up her own production company, Souvenir Manufacturing Inc. In 2004 Hagan was accepted to the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women.
She made her short film directing debut in 2004 with Pee Shy, which she also executive produced. The comedy short revolved around a boy who becomes the brunt of his vicious boy scout leader’s humor after humiliating himself. The film won a BIFF Award for Best Student Film from the 2005 Boulder International Film Festival and an Audience Award for Best Comedy Short from the 2005 Woods Hole Film Festival.
Hagan made her feature film directorial debut with the comedy romp College in 2008. Starring Andrew Caldwell, Kevin Covais and Drake Bell, the film follows three high school seniors on a wild weekend visit to a local college.
