Bunta Sugawara (菅原 文太, Sugawara Bunta) (August 16, 1933 - ) is a Japanese actor from Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. He is the father of Kaoru Sugawara along with two daughters. Sugawara's debut came in the 1956 Toho film Aishu no machi ni kiri ga furu. He starred in movies by the Japanese studios Shintoho, Shochiku and Toei. Throughout his career, Sugawara appeared in almost 200 feature films, the most famous being Kinji Fukasaku's five-part yakuza epic Battles Without Honor and Humanity. Sugawara also starred in Fukasaku's Street Mobster and Cops vs. Thugs.
