Anne-Marie Johnson (born July 18, 1960) is an American actress and impressionist who has starred in film and on television. She is perhaps best known for her role as high school educator Althea Tibbs on the NBC/CBS television drama In the Heat of the Night. She is also known for her role as Nadine Hudson Thomas on the syndicated sitcom What's Happening Now!!. Anne-Marie is the former First Vice-President of the Screen Actor's Guild. She ran for president of the actor's union in 2009 on the Membership First ticket, but lost to eventual winner Ken Howard. Johnson was born in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in Acting and Theater. Her first role was as Aileen Lewis in on the 1984 NBC comedy series Double Trouble. After the 1985 syndicated series What's Happening Now!! (as Raj's wife Nadine Hudson Thomas), she became well-known for portraying Althea Tibbs on the NBC/CBS television series In the Heat of the Night from 1988-1993. While appearing on In the Heat of the Night, she recorded the song "Little Drummer Boy" for the 1991 cast Christmas CD "Christmas Time's A Comin'."
