Aida Turturro (born September 25, 1962) is an American actress probably best known for playing Janice Soprano, sister of New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano, on the HBO TV series The Sopranos. Playing Janice Soprano on the The Sopranos TV series got Aida Turturro an Emmy Award nomination in 2001 and again in 2007. She has also appeared in a number of films including True Love, Jersey Girl, What About Bob?, Junior, Money Train, Sleepers, Jaded, Fallen, Illuminata, Deep Blue Sea, Mickey Blue Eyes, Bringing Out the Dead, Play It to the Bone and Romance & Cigarettes. Aida Turturro was born in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of a Sicilian mother Dorothy, a homemaker, and an Italian-American father Domenick Turturro, an artist. Actors John Turturro, Nicholas Turturro, and Natalie Turturro are her cousins. Turturro has worked to raise public awareness of Rheumatoid arthritis.
